Fortinet has released a new network security video talking about securing enterprise branch with Fortinet’s Secure SD-WAN solution based on FortiGate.
With many enterprises turning to SD-WAN as a more agile, responsive, and cost-effective solution compared to traditional network solutions, the security of SD-WAN architectures have become a priority, especially since moving to direct Internet access for cloud services raises a lot of security concerns and since 90 percent of SD-WAN vendors are not security vendors.
One of the biggest challenges for SD-WAN vendors is their focus on traditional Layer 3 network security control while Layer 4 to Layer 7 are usually recommended for strong security. With that in mind, Fortinet’s Secure SD-WAN, which integrates Next Generation Firewalls and SD-WAN features not only simplify deployment but also improve WAN efficiency and deliver better next-generation security.
According to the video, such networks need not only to be smart and application-aware but more importantly, highly secure. The Fortinet Secure SD-WAN solution links network and security paths across the world through the Internet, 3G/4G or private WAN links, as well as uses WAN Path Controller to reduce WAN cost without impacting the SLA for business application.
It also includes multiple security features including high IPSEC VPN, IPS, Web-Filtering, and SSL inspection and allows all security features to be managed via a centralized manager.
Fortinet was quite keen to note that its Secure SD-WAN solution includes next-generation firewalls, FortiExtender wireless LAN, central management and analytics, all packed in a secure integrated solution.
